About the product
Classic art in a modern form is once and again a winning approach. Contemporary watercolor, oil painting, fresh takes on Pop Art — but what if we created brushes that revive a genuine pearl of East Asian brushwork: Shui Mo Hua, the Chinese ink wash painting?
But stop. Hardly any modern artist thinks about recreating the 18-step process of making Xuan paper. And even fewer worry about the differences in inking techniques between the Yuan and Ming dynasties. That’s the finest perk of digital art. It brings together the best painting traditions and turns them into versatile tools for any professional software, from Photoshop to Procreate.
This was our goal when creating Ink Mania. It’s another exciting collaboration with Kristina Vorotnikova, a talented artist who has already introduced you to Asian visuals. What you’ll find in this collection is a deep love for the inking style wrapped into a comprehensive toolset for creating even the most intricate and technical works.
We've embraced a multitude of textures, from smooth and fine lines to rough strokes. Although we drew inspiration from traditional Chinese art with Ink Mania, we targeted the flexibility of use. These inkers are well-suited for expressive line work, fluid watercolor-like effects, and minimalist designs but can also be used for detailed illustrations, portraits, and stylized landscapes. They even fit sketching, adding aesthetic harshness to the stroke or working as a final touch whenever you want to go beyond classic inking.
Art of the Ink Mania
Despite being inspired by Shui Mo Hua painting, Ink Mania is a more complex product designed for modern inking across any technique. The pack includes 52 brushes: ink pens, ink brushes, wet ink, and ink stamps, all of which strike with detail and authenticity. They allow you to create fluid lines, soft transitions, and a sense of natural movement while working within a minimalist color scheme without compromising the aesthetic or meaning of your art.
