Clip Studio Classy Oil Brushes
We thought it would be fun to have it all: the confident strokes, the buttery textures, the expressive mess of it all. So when we set out to create this brush set, we knew just another digital mimicry wouldn't do. It had to feel like oils: unruly, tactile, and capable of both chaos and control.

This collection was built with the needs of illustrators, concept artists, and digital painters. Inspired by classical canvases and modern digital masters alike, the set includes 30 brushes, ranging from dry bristles and palette-knife smears to soft, blendable glazes and thick impasto textures. Each brush captures a different nuance of the medium, whether you're going for Sargent-esque portrait strokes, cinematic keyframes, or dramatic skies pulled from a Baroque fever dream.
“I’m kinda far from classic painting, so this one was a real challenge. But I had fun sipping inspo from artists like Loish and WLOP, imagining how they’d tackle oils. Not in some Monet-style garden scene, but more like an avant-garde take on traditional painting. Game art mb.”
The look and feel are rooted in tradition, but the versatility is modern. We've tested these brushes on everything from RPG-style character design to editorial portraits, fine art studies, sketching and book illustrations. And do believe us: they're as versatile as pencils, enabling you to go for any creative task: backgrounds, fine art-inspired digital pieces, commercial commissions, creative storytelling. The brushes will also shine in visual development, editorial illustration, fantasy book covers, and animated frame-by-frame painting.
Oil Painting Brushes FAQ

Oil brushes mimic the look and behavior of actual oil paint — thick textures, bristled strokes, and buttery blending. This pack captures everything from bold palette knife swipes to soft glazes and dry brush scratchiness, giving you that expressive, painterly feel without the cleanup.
-
They’re perfect for concept art, character design, environment painting, portraits, and editorial work. Old master vibe or something more stylized and cinematic — these brushes help you layer, sculpt, and shape your work with an authentic oil-painted look.
-
Digital oil painting offers a mix of controlled chaos and satisfying texture. You can build color in thick, painterly layers, blend tones naturally, and switch between soft and sharp edges — just like traditional oils. The brushes respond to pressure and tilt, so you can go from feather-light shading to bold, impasto-like accents.
-
You need a drawing tablet or stylus-compatible device (like an iPad with Apple Pencil) and a digital art program that supports custom brushes—Photoshop, Procreate, etc.
